Joni Photo bio picture

Hi There!

I'm very excited to explore the multi uses of this site.

Being a dynamic medium and not static like a traditional website, this blog will allow the viewer to see my latest work in the specific category of their interest simply by sorting the post by "categories", e.g. kids, events or furry BFF's.

Some posts will be educational in providing a little insight as to how some of these images are created, my thought process, etc.  And maybe "too much information (TMI) but some posts will share a little glimpse into my interests outside of photography such as wine, food and giving back to the community.

Would love to hear your feedback!

Enjoy!

Joni

Focusing The Viewer – Part 2

DOC Restaurant, NE Portland - w/flash

DOC  is unlike any restaurant.  Its named is derived from ”denominazione di origine controllata” - the Italian controls of wines of “particular reputation and worth”.  Walking through the front door, you enter straight into the kitchen.  The sense one feels seated at the table is having a meal in an Italian cottage out in the rural Tuscan countryside.   Watching Chef Greg Perrault from a candlelit table transports one back to our childhood when we watched Mom preparing meals at home.

Which image works best to represent the above description?   Where does your eye focus when looking at these images?  These examples illustrate my previous point of how light can be used to control what you want your viewer to see.
