What does spending a whole frustrating afternoon trying to learn/fix code to create links on a website entry have to do with photography?

If you are thinking of starting your own business, let alone a photography business, this is the reality. Companies have whole departments for research, product development, marketing, sales, finance, etc. When you own your own business, you have to become an expert in all these functions if you want to survive.

Next time you are speaking to a chef, winemaker, artist or photographer – think twice before telling them “you have a fun job.” If everyone could have the luxury of only doing what they love to do, like creating keepsakes that are meaningful and enrich peoples lives, yes that would be fun. Its all the other “stuff” that makes it not so fun.

I just read that an occasional gripe is not a bad thing. It may relieve stress and provides a useful social function – much like monkeys picking fleas off each other. Seriously? This is my pathetic way for justifying this post.
